Fairbanks

Today we arrived in Fairbanks after completing the 1,390 mile Alaskan Highway that began in Dawson Creek, British Colombia and ended in Delta Junction, Alaska. It took us six days of persistent driving. Every one of those days was filled with breathtaking scenery and a true sense of adventure and discovery. The road was mostly good and never bad. The only rough section is in Yukon between Haines Junction and the Alaska border. Before this trip I was unable to imagine this vast, pristine, and mostly unpopulated part of the world. I am so grateful for the unforgettable experience.

On June 5 we stayed at beautiful Muncho Lake at the Northern Rockies Lodge. We treated ourselves to TV, dinner and breakfast in the dining room and some of the most beautiful views on the Alaskan Highway. The lodge has a full service hotel, cabins, lakeside chalets and an RV park with lake views. They operatimagee flight touimageimagers in the area including fly-in fishing and day trips to Virginia Falls in Nahanni National Park.

Liard River Hot Springs and Campground

On June 7 we stopped and camped at Laird River Hotsprings Provincial Park. From the campground we walked on a boardwalk trail across a wetlands environment for .4 mile to the pools. We enjoyed a leisure soak for a couple of hours and made it back to the camper just as it started to rain. We had purchased fire wood but the rain didn’t let up so it’s still in the back seat of the truck.
